I Never Told Elvis That Sinatra Had
Hit On Me

Nancy Sinatra was appearing in Las Vegas
in the late 1960s and the plan was for us to sit with her family. Elvis and I
were early, so on the way in, he and a couple of guys in his entourage stopped
to play blackjack. I told him I'd wait at our table.
If I do say, I was
quite a sight. My hair was long-clear down to my waist. I had on a pink tapestry
outfit, low-cut and with a sexy little fringe.
So there I was, making my
way through the crowd, when I sensed this strong energy beside me. There stood
Frank Sinatra. He looked at me, smiled that little smile of his, and asked, "Where are you sitting? Because you're invited to sit at my table if you
like."
I told him I was quite sure my seats would be excellent. Frank had
no clue who I was-or that I'd be sitting about three feet from him.
The
lights started to dim and Elvis took his place to my left and said his hellos.
Sinatra was right across from us. Suddenly, his mouth fell open with this
expression of utter disbelief. Then, with that mischievous grin again, he got
up, strolled over and plopped himself into the empty chair on my
right.
"So you figured your seats would be excellent, huh?" he
half-whispered into my ear. "Well...you can't get seats any better than this." Then he gave me a wink, realizing he had hit on Elvis Presley's woman and never
had a clue. I never told Elvis. It isn't every night that Frank Sinatra puts
moves on you. It's the kind of thing that could give a girl a big head. But
instead it just became one of the most quietly memorable moments of my life.
